Recently restored, this fountain was built, as the inscription it bears informs, in the days of Carlos IV (1801) to celebrate the arrival of the public water system. It is a good example of the Neoclassic architecture fashionable at the time.
It is a solid fountain, its main shaft decorated with the local armorial bearings and finished off with a fleuron. It is reminiscent of the fountains built in the same period and style by the artist Luis Paret in the neighbouring city of Pamplona.
