Palatial house of Argamasilla

Built at the end of the XV century. This Renaissance-style building is one of the finest examples of civil architecture in Navarra.

It has an L-shaped floor plan and two levels. The facade has three openings: a square central door, two side grilles, a balcony jutting over the door and two balcony-door windows. There are two coats of arms at the sides of the central balcony. The building is finished off with overhanging wooden eaves. In the middle of the roof, there is a cube-shaped box made of brick with semicircular arches on the sides which corresponds to the interior stairwell and dates from the XVIII century.

This palatial house belonged to noble families, such as the Erdozáins, Elíos and Artetas, and was home to celebrated figures such as the Bayona-Lapenas.

Among those who have slept there, we can list King Juan de Albret, Princess Magdalena and even Ramón María del Valle-Inclán.
