San Miguel church

The church was built at the site of the old mediaeval church which was burnt down in 1378 and of which just the sturdy, square tower remains. Most of it was built in late-Gothic style in the XVI century.

The choir inserted in the mediaeval section is from the XVI century and is built on a segmental arch. The portal arch is decorated with the heads of seraphim. There are tondos of Saint Peter and Saint Paul on the spandrels and pairs of angels holding consoles separated by leafy corbels on the frieze. The balustrade is divided into four sections by pilasters decorated with reliefs of virtues (strength, justice, charity), a female figure with child and hourglass, and another with a skull and lectern with book, these last two being allegorical representations of the passing of time.
